Imphal: The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal marked a significant milestone on Tuesday with the inauguration of the Multipurpose Digital Radiography Fluoroscopy System (DRF-800) at the Department of Radiodiagnosis.
The state-of-the-art 3-dimensional X-Ray system was unveiled by Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director of RIMS, Imphal, in the presence of Prof N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent of RIMS Hospital, Imphal.
During the inaugural event, Director RIMS expressed his delight at RIMS being the first in the government sector to install such advanced facilities. The high-end digital imaging multi-tool is equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) features, including automatic positioning and image generation, making it a convenient and efficient healthcare tool.
Director RIMS highlighted that the newly installed X-Ray system has the capability to perform radiography for the entire leg and spine. Additionally, the three-dimensional X-Ray can be processed for any position of the body, enabling various investigations simultaneously while reducing radiation emissions and exposure.
The system is versatile, offering capabilities for Barium swallow, Barium Meal, Barium enema, urology investigations, gynecological examinations, and Myelography. It also facilitates interventional procedures such as Endoscopy, Catheter Placement, Biopsy, Lumbar Puncture, and more.
The incorporation of AI positioning ensures enhanced efficiency and convenience for both medical professionals and patients.
