Imphal: Takhelmayum Pinky Devi’s journey from a baggage loader at Imphal Airport to a dedicated cabin crew member with IndiGo is a testament to her unwavering determination and resilience in the face of adversities.
Pinky, who lost her parents at a young age, took on the responsibility of caring for her younger brother and sister. Undeterred by the challenges life threw at her, she harboured a dream of becoming a cabin crew member with IndiGo. Pinky began her journey in the aviation industry as a baggage loader with Agile at Imphal Airport, where she worked tirelessly to support her family and fund her dream.
In a statement, Pinky expressed her outlook on difficult times, saying, “Difficult times are a phase, it’s better to focus on the upcoming good times to stay motivated!”
Pinky’s dream faced a significant setback this year when communal violence disrupted her training in Manipur. However, undaunted and driven by her ambition, she managed to relocate to Guwahati, where she completed her training and is now soaring the skies as a cabin crew member with IndiGo.
Relating her experience, Pinky shared, “Relocating to a new location comes with its perks and challenges as well. When I initially moved to Guwahati from Manipur to pursue my dream of being a cabin crew member, I faced some challenges in communication due to linguistic diversity. But I was dedicated to seeing my dreams come true, adapted to the new environment, and met new people who helped me overcome this challenge. Stepping out of my comfort zone, being a proactive learner and asking questions whether right or wrong, has taught me to adapt better and excel in both my professional and personal life.”
Pinky’s journey at IndiGo has been marked by exceptional training that instilled values for life. She expressed her gratitude, stating, “The training was exceptional and taught me values for life. It helped me to enhance my skills and improve the quality of my life.”
Reflecting on her daily challenges, Pinky highlighted communication as a significant barrier she had to overcome. She worked diligently to improve her language proficiency and emphasized her motivation to constantly enhance her communication skills.
Pinky concluded with her career aspirations, saying, “From a support team member to a cabin crew member – I’ve had an enriching experience with IndiGo over the last 7 years. I’ve learnt several essential skills, such as communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution, that have not only helped me deliver to the best of my abilities at work but also in my personal life. Today, I aspire to grow my skills and knowledge while mentoring young aspiring aviators to get closer to achieving their dreams.”
