Imphal: Manipur’s Chief Minister, N Biren Singh, inaugurated the Alternate Housing Complex at National Games Village, Langol, in a ceremony organised by the Manipur Municipal Administration, Housing and Urban Development (MAHUD) on Thursday.
The project, implemented by the Planning and Development Authority, Manipur, comes at a cost of approximately Rs 58 crore, funded jointly by the Housing and Urban Development Corporation Ltd (HUDCO) and the State Government.
Addressing the gathering, CM N Biren Singh highlighted the positive developmental changes in the state, despite challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic. He emphasised the need to overcome obstacles for continued progress.
The housing complex, completed in less than two years, is situated on approximately 2.16 acres of land and comprises 5 blocks with a total of 180 dwelling units. Constructed using Light Gauge Steel Frame (LGSF) technology, the buildings offer advantages like reduced dead weight, particularly beneficial in seismic zones like Manipur.
Additionally, CM Biren Singh discussed environmental concerns, urging against encroachment of reserved forest areas and emphasizing the need for conservation.

The event was attended by Forest, Environment, and Climate Change Minister Thongam Biswajit, Works Minister Govindas Konthoujam, Education Minister Th Basantakumar Singh, several MLAs, senior government officials, and representatives from HUDCO and Nipani Infra & Industries Pvt. Ltd (NIIPL).
Following the inauguration, the Chief Minister visited Lamphelpat to inspect the rejuvenation work of the Lamphelpat waterbody.
