The third edition of the Byatikram International Writers Meet began in Guwahati on November 22, bringing together writers, poets, and intellectuals from various parts of the world. Organised by Byatikram MASDO, the event aims to foster cultural and literary dialogue and will run until November 25, 2024.
Prominent figures attending the event include Tendo Taijin (Japan), Alexandra Nicod (Switzerland), Miodrag Jaksic (Serbia), Hussein Habasch (Germany), Kieu Bich Hau and Cao Thi Hong (Vietnam), Jorge Contreras Herrera and Jorge Antonio García Pérez (Mexico), Ahmad Al Shahawy and Dr Sara Hamid Hawass (Egypt), as well as Indian literary personalities such as Dr Reshma Ramesh, Ashok Chakraborty, and others.
The inaugural session, held at Aurus Mall, Guwahati, featured a welcome and felicitation ceremony for the participating poets. Notable attendees included literary figures Dr Rita Chowdhury, Manikuntala Bhattacharya, and Shankar Lall Goenka, alongside other dignitaries. Participants were felicitated by the Jeewan Ram Mungi Devi Goenka Public Charitable Trust, represented by managing trustee Shankar Lall Goenka.
Dr Saumen Bharatiya, President of Byatikram MASDO, remarked:
“This platform connects prominent writers and thinkers from across the globe while celebrating the cultural heritage of Northeast India. The continued support for this initiative has been deeply encouraging.”

The event will feature engaging sessions and literary discussions over the next three days. Highlights include:
- Day 2: Literary sessions at Sarla Birla Gyan Jyoti (Amingaon), Dispur College, and the Gauhati Artist’s Guild (Chandmari).
- Day 3: A programme by the Bengali Department of Cotton University, followed by an evening gathering at Hotel Vivanta.
- Day 4: The closing ceremony and valedictory event at Hotel Landmark.
Several literary works will be launched during the meet, including:
- Prof. Jiban Nath’s books: Nath Yoga Nibandhakrtsna, Charyapder Teen Kabi, Amader Purva Purush, and others.
- Bijay Shankar Sur’s works: Trikhandito Bharat Darpan and Gopon Premer Darshan.
Byatikram MASDO has expressed gratitude to all participants and attendees for contributing to the event’s successful opening.
