How India’s economy has fared under ten years of Narendra Modi

Guwahati: Ramen Kumar Sharma, Vice President (Admn) of the Guwahati City District Congress Committee, has taken a significant step by filing a First Information Report (FIR) against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The complaint, addressed to the Officer-in-Charge of Bhangagarh Police Station, Guwahati, details the distressing experiences faced by citizens during the Prime Minister’s visit on April 16, 2024.

Sharma’s complaint sheds light on the immense hardships caused by the barricades and traffic restrictions imposed during the visit. He underscores the excessive disruptions endured by residents, leading to prolonged traffic jams and impassable routes.

A particularly distressing incident involved an ambulance carrying a critically ill patient. Despite the urgent need for medical attention, the ambulance was obstructed by the chaotic traffic, resulting in a concerning delay in reaching the hospital and potentially jeopardising the patient’s life.

Sharma also draws attention to the alleged violation of rules established by Assam’s Chief Minister in January 2024, which prioritised public welfare over political events. He asserts that both Sarma and Modi, as organisers of the rally, should be held accountable for disregarding these regulations.

Sharma challenges the characterisation of the visit as an official one, emphasising its primary purpose as political campaigning. He urges authorities to promptly address the grievances of the affected citizens and take necessary measures to prevent such incidents from recurring in the future.

In light of these developments, Sharma calls upon the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and take appropriate action, including the arrest of Sarma and Modi. He emphasises the importance of registering the FIR and initiating steps to rectify the issues raised in his complaint.
