Guwahati: The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is facing mounting apprehension regarding the security of convoys in Manipur following a recent attack on an Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) convoy on NH-37, as per a report by News18.
The assault resulted in injuries to a driver and damaged four vehicles, sparking concerns about potential threats to convoy safety.
A senior CRPF official told News18 that similar incidents have occurred previously on NH-37, indicating a recurring pattern of attempts to loot fuel from tankers. Given that the CRPF was responsible for escorting the convoy and ensuring its security, top officials have taken serious note of the recent attack.
To prevent further attacks by militants, directives have been issued to bolster convoy security measures and implement videography during convoy movements. Any lapses in convoy security will be met with disciplinary action.
The importance of adhering to standard operating procedures during convoy escort duties, stressing that deviations will not be tolerated, the report cited a senior official.

Close coordination with Assam Rifles and state police forces deployed in nearby areas is deemed essential for ensuring convoy safety. Senior officials have been tasked with maintaining a presence on the ground during convoy movements and promptly reporting any incidents to higher authorities.
