Dibrugarh: Nineteen-year-old Barsha Gope of Dibrugarh has been missing since November 25, 2025, but even after 15 days, police have failed to trace her whereabouts.
According to reports, the girl has been missing since November 25, when she left her workplace saying she was going home for lunch. Her last known location was at Grambazar, Dibrugarh.
The family members have filed a kidnapping case at the Gabhrupathar police outpost in Dibrugarh.
Barsha is the daughter of Ranjit Gope of Kadomoni, KC Gogoi Path near SKV School in Dibrugarh.
“My sister, Barsha Gope, has been missing since November 25, 2025. On that day, she left her workplace saying that she was going home to have food, but she neither reached home nor returned to her workplace. Since then, her whereabouts are completely unknown. On the same day, we lodged a missing FIR at Gabhrupathar Outpost, but we did not receive any proper response,” said Anamika Gope.
She said, “After that, we approached Dibrugarh Police Station, then the Crime Branch Office, Dibrugarh, and later the DC Office as well. Everywhere we were asked only to wait. But our condition is very serious. My father, mother, and grandmother are all seriously ill due to extreme mental stress and worry. In our continuous effort to find her, we also lodged a complaint at Banipur NF Railway. With their assistance, we checked nearly five hours of CCTV footage, but unfortunately, no clue could be found there either.”
“My sister had a boyfriend named Vivek Mandal, a resident of Gangapara, Dibrugarh. He is also searching for her along with us since November 25. The police have already investigated him as well, but no definite information has been found so far. As per our last information, my sister’s final phone call before going missing was with this boyfriend,” Anamika said.
She added, “We didn’t have any CCTV footage because all the CCTVs are not working. We are helpless and don’t know what to do. For the last 15 days, she has been missing, and there is no clue about her. We urge Dibrugarh police to act swiftly to find the whereabouts of my sister.”
“We suspect that my sister has been kidnapped. My entire family has been in shock and doesn’t know what to do. She has been working at Rayan Store for the last one and a half years. Her relationship with her boyfriend is good, but what happened to her, we don’t know,” Anamika said.
Sources said kidnapping and human-trafficking cases have been rising in upper Assam areas.
