Two months after the liquor price hike for the new fiscal year, Assam’s Excise Department has implemented monthly sales targets for wine shops and bars across various districts.

According to sources within the Excise Commissionerate, these targets have been distributed across the districts, specifying the amount of liquor and beer each outlet should sell monthly. In Kamrup (Metropolitan), 315 wine shops and 206 bars have a target of 5,135 litres each month.

In Jorhat, the target is set at 9,587 litres per month for its 72 wine shops and 35 bars. Barpeta district’s 38 wine shops and 11 bars are expected to sell 4,430 litres per month. Nagaon district, with 77 wine shops and 26 bars, has an average target of 6,650 litres per month. Kamrup district’s 26 wine shops and 18 bars are tasked with selling 12,957 litres monthly. In Sivasagar district, 74 wine shops and 37 bars have a target of 10,000 litres per month.

Similarly, in Golaghat district, each of the 94 wine shops and 44 bars will aim to sell 10,000 litres of liquor and beer monthly. Darrang district’s 16 wine shops and 10 bars have a target of 5,580 litres per month. In Lakhimpur district, each of the 61 wine shops and 65 bars has an average target of 4,540 litres per month. Nalbari district’s 32 wine shops and 27 bars are set an average target of 5,675 litres monthly.
