Guwahati: The Assam Cabinet has given its nod to the introduction of the Meitei or Manipuri Mayek script in the educational institutions of the state. This decision, reached during the recent cabinet meeting, aims to provide students with the opportunity to engage with Manipuri literature and pursue higher studies in Manipuri using the Meitei or Mayek script.
The cabinet underscored the practical significance of this move, stressing that it would enable candidates from Assam to apply for jobs in Manipur that require proficiency in Meitei/Mayek.
Alongside this linguistic initiative, the cabinet also announced several key decisions during the meeting, focusing on themes of development and heritage preservation.
