Guwahati: The Arunachal Pradesh State Food Commission ordered the authorities to furnish a detailed report on the allegations of irregularities in the public distribution system at Padu village located in Upper Siang district.
The Deputy Commissioner of the Yingkiong was requested to get the report ready after 51 ration card holders of the village heaped allegations of large-scale irregularities in the Public Distribution System.
Alleging undue practices, the villagers claimed that their entitlements were being distributed among some newly registered families. They alleged that Additional Deputy Commissioner Mariyang, Circle Officer Mariyang (Mopom), and DF&CSO Yingkiong had been instrumental in the ongoing unjust practices.
The 51 families expressed dissatisfaction over the cancellation of their cards and objected to the addition of new beneficiaries without proper consideration.
Despite submitting claims and objections within the stipulated timeframe, the affected families were summoned to appear before the CO-cum-i/c ADC on 29th September 2023, where their grievances were dismissed.
Appeals to reconsider the cancellation of existing valid ration cards were met with aggression from CO Mariyang (i/c ADC), who threatened further actions against the aggrieved parties.

In a recent press statement, the affected families accused authorities of adding ineligible Above Poverty Line (APL) members to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) list, allowing them to benefit from schemes like Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) and Priority Households (PHH). Despite raising objections, their concerns were disregarded by CO (Mopom)-cum-i/c ADC Mariyang, prompting them to seek intervention from the Deputy Commissioner of Yingkiong. However, no corrective measures have been taken thus far.
Besides, Gumin Tayeng, the FPS dealer from Padu village, alleged that new ration card holders forcefully took rice from his go-down on 12th January 2024, following instructions from CO Mopom. Despite complaining, no action has been taken by Mariyang Police Station.
