Non-Arunachalis appointed engineers in Pare project, locals object

Itanagar: The Pare Project Land Affected Welfare Committee (PPLAWC) has lodged a complaint with the Chief Managing Director (CMD) of NEEPCO, alleging the appointment of two non-Arunachali individuals as junior engineers in the electrical and mechanical departments under the Pare Hydroelectric Project (PHEP).

In a letter directed to the CMD, the PPLAWC asserted that the recruitment of these two engineers in Pare project occurred without advertising the job vacancies in the state’s newspapers and without consulting the locals affected by the project.

The PPLAWC questioned the decision to hire individuals who are not residents of Arunachal Pradesh, expressing concern over the overlooking of numerous unemployed engineering graduates within the state. The committee emphasised that such actions by NEEPCO have negatively impacted the sentiments of the indigenous tribal citizens of Arunachal Pradesh.

Furthermore, the committee has announced its intention to prevent the two appointed engineers from assuming their duties in the Pare project. They cautioned that attempting to force their entry may lead to potential law and order issues. Consequently, the PPLAWC has urged the NEEPCO CMD to recall the appointment letters and annul the appointments.
