Agartala: Tipra Motha on Tuesday released its complete list of nominees for all 28 seats of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), signalling its full-scale entry into the upcoming polls amid shifting political alignments in the state.
The party’s decision to contest every constituency follows the Bharatiya Janata Party’s move to go it alone in the elections without a pre-poll understanding with its allies. In response, Tipra Motha has fielded candidates across the council, covering the entire electoral map.
Party supremo Pradyot Kishore Debbarman will not be contesting this time. He had earlier contested from the Takarjala-Jampuijala seat in the previous TTAADC elections. For the forthcoming polls, the party has nominated Youth Tipra Federation (YTF) president Suraj Debbarma from that constituency.
The list reflects a combination of retained leadership and new entrants. Chief Executive Member Purna Chandra Jamatia and Chairman Jagadish Debbarma have been renominated from their respective seats, while former MLA Rajeshwar Debbarma will contest from Kulai-Champahour.
Retired civil servant Chandra Kumar Jamatia has been fielded from Maharani-Chelagang. Other candidates include Bhabha Ranjan Reang from Damcherra-Jampui, Swapan Kumar Chakma from Machmara, and Umashankar Reang from Dasda-Kanchanpur.
Ratish Tripura has been nominated from Karamchharra and Hangsa Kumar Tripura from Chhawmanu. Hollywood Chakma will contest from Manu-Chailengta, while Dhirendra Debbarma has been fielded from Demchhara-Kachuchhrra. Khotrojoy Reang is the candidate for Ganganagar-Gandachhara and Prasmit Debbarma for Halahali-Asharambari.
Further nominations include Utpal Debbarma from Maharani-Pur-Teliamura, James Debbarma from Ramchandra Ghat, Rabindra Debbarma from Simna-Tamakari, and Runei Debbarma from Bodhjungnagar-Wakinagar. Jiten Debbarma will contest from Mandainagar-Pulinpur, while Gita Debbarma has been fielded from Pekuarjala-Jamjeyjaynagar.
From Amtali-Golaghati, the party has nominated Buddha Kumar Debbarma, while C.K. Jamatia will contest from Maharani-Chellagang. David Murasing has been fielded from Kathalia-Mirja-Rajapur, Kamal Kalai from Ampinagar, and Dhananjoy Tripura from Raima Valley.
