Agartala: The Tripura Gausia Committee, a prominent Muslim organization in the state, has voiced serious concerns over the persecution of religious minorities, particularly the Hindu community, in Bangladesh.
In a significant move, the committee submitted a three-point charter of demands addressed to the Bangladesh Assistant High Commissioner. This demand draft was handed over to the District Magistrate of West Tripura for further action.
The organization expressed alarm over the increasing violence targeting minority communities in Bangladesh, citing attacks on homes and destruction of property. Referring to widely circulated social media footage of such incidents, the committee described the events as “inhumane and condemnable.”
The body also conveyed profound anguish over videos allegedly showing the desecration of the Indian national flag outside an educational institution in Bangladesh. The act was labeled as “deeply painful and a violation of our conscience.”
“As Indian citizens, such disrespect towards the national symbol is entirely unacceptable,” stated a press release signed by the committee’s President, Abdul Rafiq.
The Tripura Gausia Committee called for immediate and decisive action from the Bangladeshi government to address these concerns. The organization demanded an end to all acts of violence and harassment against religious minorities, robust measures to safeguard their properties, and heightened protection for their spiritual leaders.
In addition, the committee urged the Bangladeshi authorities to clarify the social media videos and ensure that no further incidents involving disrespect to the Indian flag occur.
Expressing hope for a resolution, the committee stated that the Bangladesh government should take swift steps to address these issues and uphold the principles of harmony and mutual respect between the neighboring nations.
