Agartala: Former Tripura Chief Minister and a senior member of the politburo Manik Sarkar on Wednesday linked RSS, the ideological fountainhead of the ruling BJP, with a racket involved in issuing fake Permanent Resident of Tripura Certificate (PRTC).
According to Sarkar, the handpicked candidates from other states like Assam, West Bengal, Bihar and Orissa are being brought to Tripura. They were being issued PRTC certificates and subsequently they are being hired in government jobs.
“The handpicked candidates of the RSS people are bringing outsiders from states like Assam, Bihar, Orissa and West Bengal. In exchange of money, these outsider candidates get permanent residents certificates and also secure jobs in the government establishments. Youth of this state are protesting against this dubious racket but no one is bothered to listen to their voices,” Sarkar claimed.
Hitting out at the BJP-led ruling coalition, Sarkar said, “The real issues which haunt a common man in everyday life never finds place in the political agenda of the BJP and RSS. In the past few months, an atmosphere of unrest has prevailed in areas where Muslims and Hinuds have been living peacefully for decades. In most of these areas BJP emerged unsuccessful in the previous elections. Now to divert public attention from the day-to-day problems such as unemployment, sharp drop in government recruitment, scarcity of work and food in the remote areas, the BJP and RSS have plotted a new sinister design. In the mixed populated areas, they are trying to create communal unrest and we have seen a number of incidents happening in those areas.”
Sarkar also slammed ruling ally Tipra Motha party for its alleged political flip-flop after the 2023 assembly elections. “In just five years, BJP lost its popularity among the masses. It only received 39 percent of the total votes and I am sure 15 to 17 percent of it is contributed by rigging. And, they are assisted by Tipra Motha in their polls master plan. The rise of Tipra Motha as a political force was possible because it was vocal against the BJP. And, after elections it became an ally of the party against whom it fought a fierce electoral battle,” he said.
It should be noted here that Sarkar was speaking at a special convention organised by the Ganamukti Parishad, the tribal wing of the principal opposition party. CPIM state secretary Jitendra Choudhuri also spoke on the occasion.
