Agartala: The death toll in Tripura due to landslide increased further after seven persons of two families died in a tragic landslide that occurred on Wednesday night at Ashwini Tripura para under South Tripura district. The incident occurred at around 11:30 pm.
Santirbazar has been one of the severely affected by flash floods triggered by incessant rainfall over the past three days. According to officials, five of the deceased were from the same family, while the other two belonged to another.
“It was raining heavily last night. Around 11:30 pm, a landslide occurred causing deaths of seven people. Some family members of these families had already been moved to relief camps,” a local resident has said.

On Thursday morning, rescue teams recovered the remains of six victims while efforts are underway to find out the seventh dead body.
The victims have been identified as Umacharan Tripura (25) and Mandira Tripura (23) from one family. Prasenjit Tripura (21), Ajay Tripura (16), Rakesh Tripura (18), Jyotika Tripura (21), and Kumtusai Tripura (03) from another family also lost their lives.
