Agartala: In a shocking incident, 65-year-old Narayan Das was killed in his own house in the wee hours of this morning. He was brutally hacked to death using a sharp weapon by his nephew-in-law.
The accused is identified as Judhishthir Sarkar.
Speaking to media persons, Jahar Lal Das, the younger brother of the deceased said, “Narayan Das was brutally assaulted with a chopper by Judhishthir Sarkar. Sarkar is my son in law. My elder brother was lying in a pool of blood when I first saw him after the incident. To prevent my son-in-law from raining more blows on my brother, I tied him with ropes. Later, police came and took over his custody.”
Meanwhile, forensic teams, along with local police officials reached the spot upon being informed. Superintendent of Police, Gomati District, Namit Pathak also went to the spot.
According to police sources, the incident occurred after a heated argument broke out between Narayan Das and the accused on Wednesday night when they were drinking together. The exact reason behind the altercation is yet to be ascertained.
