Agartala: A Special Police Officer (SPO) jawan, identified as Suman Hossain, has been suspended for attending a political event while the MCC (Model Code of Conduct) was in force.
Superintendent of Police Dr. Kiran Kumar of West Tripura district took action against the violator, temporarily suspending him. Suman Hossain was attached to Mohanpir police station under West Tripura.
The violation occurred on March 28, 2024, when Suman Hossain was spotted attending a political party event within the jurisdiction of the 2/30 polling station. SPOs, unarmed officials stationed at police stations, are deployed to maintain law and order in relatively peaceful areas.
Following the report of the MCC violation to the Election Commission, prompt action was taken. This incident follows a similar case involving a woman teacher who also faced consequences for violating the model code of conduct.
