Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, on Tuesday, urged BJP leaders and workers in the state to make sure that the ruling party could, at least, secure a hike of ten percent vote share in each of the organizational booths across the state. BJP has a total of 3,329 organizational booths.
The Chief Minister was speaking at a conference of the party’s Pristha Pramukhs at Teliamura. It is worthy to be noted here that Pristha Pramukhs are the field workers of the party who are assigned with every sixty votes in a booth. They directly report to the booth president.
Tripura with two Lok Sabha seats – Tripura West and Tripura East, encompasses a total of 3,329 polling booths. While the Tripura West seat is scheduled for polls on April 19, voting in the Tripura East seat will take place on April 26.
“In our party’s executive meeting, we have resolved to set a target of enhancing the BJP’s vote share by 10 percent in each polling booth. Party leaders and workers must collaborate closely to accomplish this goal,” Dr Saha pointed out.
Expressing his disappointment over the fall in the party’s vote share in the last assembly elections. BJP which had secured 42 percent votes in 2018 failed to continue with its stellar show in 2023 with only 39 percent votes. The number of seats also decreased.
Saha also dismissed the arguments advanced by the opposition parties and stated that they (the opposition) lacked substantial issues. Moreover, he tried to allay fear pertaining to CAA asserting that in North East has been almost exempted from the purview of the Ac.
Highlighting the incumbent coalition government’s dedication to the welfare of indigenous communities in Tripura, the chief minister stressed on Centre’s efforts in fostering peace and development in the region.
He mentioned that the Centre has signed 11 accords with various groups in the northeast to ensure peace in the region.
