Agartala: In a joint operation involving the Border Security Force (BSF), Government Railway Police (GRP), and Railway Protection Force (RPF), as many as 10 Bangladeshi nationals, including two children, were detained at Agartala Railway Station. Additionally, two Indian facilitators from Asansol and Gujarat were apprehended during the operation.
“During the operation, a total of 12 individuals were detained by security personnel at Agartala Railway Station due to their suspicious behavior,” informed OC Government Railway Police, Tapas Das, during a briefing with reporters. “Preliminary investigations revealed that most of the detainees hailed from Bangladesh, with two Indian citizens identified as Suraj Sahu from Asansol and Rabiul Seikh from Gujarat also among the group.”
Providing further insights into the case, Das elaborated, “During preliminary investigations, we learned that the group of Bangladeshi nationals entered Tripura with the assistance of Kamrul Islam, an active border tout on the Bangladesh side. His contacts facilitated their journey to Agartala Railway Station, where they intended to catch a train to travel outside Tripura.”
According to police sources, the detainees aimed to secure employment and settle in the region. All accused persons are slated to be presented before the court on Wednesday, with a specific case registered at the GRP police station.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the East Agartala Police station apprehended two individuals and seized 10 kgs of dry ganja from their possession at the Inter-State Bus Terminal located at Chandrapur on the outskirts of Agartala city.

Commenting on the operation, OC East Agartala Police Station, Sanjit Sen, stated, “Acting on a tip-off, a police team raided ISBT Chandrapur and recovered 10 kgs of dry ganja. Two persons identified as Niranjan Biswas and Dhananjoy Biswas were arrested. They will be presented before the court on Wednesday.”
Police sources indicate that the consignment was destined for Ambassa, the headquarters of Dhalai district.
