Agartala: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in Tripura has launched multiple political exercises apparently to ascertain the aspirations of voters so that the needs of the public could be addressed through its poll manifesto. A special drive called “Yuva Choupal” is being conducted in all the constituencies of Tripura to enhance youth engagement in politics.
“Those who are being invited to participate in the get-togethers are not necessarily active members of the saffron party. We invite people from a cross-section of society not only to spread our message but to hear from them. The issues raised in these candid discussions are being noted down and will later be submitted to the party high command in the form of a detailed report,” said Sushanta Deb, President of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha Tripura Pradesh and MLA.
According to Deb, the BJP doesn’t want to compel anyone to vote for it. “We are an altogether different political force. We believe in listening to the genuine needs of the public and addressing them through policies. Voices from across the nation shall be heard, and based on that, our poll manifesto will come into being,” Deb explained.
Deb also criticized the opposition parties for being “directionless”. “The opposition parties in the country, even in Tripura, neither have any political agenda nor do they have the time to listen to the grievances of the people. The space of the opposition in Tripura is gradually diminishing,” he pointed out.
Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Pratima Bhoumik, participated in a Yuva Choupal at Ram Nagar on Tuesday. She said, “The benefits of schemes have reached lakhs of people in Tripura. From toilets to houses, this government has delivered more than it promised. This is how Prime Minister Narendra Modi has grown into such a brand that could never be defeated.”
Special Drive in Tribal Region
On the other hand, BJP Tripura Pradesh President Rajib Bhattacharjee said on Tuesday that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has received a detailed report on the status of the party’s organization in the 20 tribal seats.
“Vistaraks were posted in all the 20 seats for a period of five days. They had worked extensively in those areas and prepared a report on the strengths and weaknesses of the party. We shall strategize the party’s campaign in those areas based on the recommendations of the leaders who had stayed there,” added Bhattacharjee.
The BJP state president was briefing the media persons on the sidelines of a meeting organized by the BJP’s Janajati Morcha.
“The Janajati Morcha state committee was reconstituted under the stewardship of ex-MLA Parimal Debbarma. This meeting is convened to start the primary homework prior to the polls,” he added.
