Kohima: Nagaland-based guitarist and composer Arenlong has been named an official endorsed artist by Swedish guitar manufacturer Strandberg Guitars, marking a milestone in a relationship that began six years ago.
The endorsement comes after Arenlong won the Strandberg Guitar Contest in India in 2020, bringing him to the attention of the company. His association with the brand has now culminated in an official artist partnership.
Founded by Swedish luthier Ola Strandberg in 2012, Strandberg Guitars is known for its ergonomic, headless guitar designs and is widely recognised in progressive rock, metal and fusion circles. Its artist roster includes internationally known guitarists such as Plini, Richard Henshall, Per Nilsson and Jake Bowen.
With the endorsement, Arenlong joins a global roster of artists recognised for their contributions to contemporary progressive guitar music.
Known for blending progressive rock and metal with melodic, technically driven guitar work, Arenlong released his debut EP, Willow, in 2022, showcasing his style as both a guitarist and composer.
Over the years, he has earned several accolades, including winning the Boss Guitar Maestro Contest in 2015, the National Guitar Solo Contest in 2014 and the Best Guitarist award at the Hornbill International Rock Contest in 2013. In 2020, he also won an international online guitar competition hosted by UK guitarist Jack Gardiner.
Beyond his solo work, Arenlong is part of the NAMMA Music Artist Roster and collaborated with Abhay Nayampally, J-Rod Sullivan and producer Sandeep Chowta on the EP Treekam.
Arenlong also acknowledged the role of Mumbai-based music retailer The Stockist in supporting his journey with Strandberg. The retailer, which offers premium guitar brands including Strandberg, Taylor, Suhr and Mayones, has helped improve access to high-end instruments for Indian musicians and supported the relationship that led to the endorsement.
In addition to Strandberg Guitars, Arenlong is also an endorsed artist for Hotone Audio and SIT Strings.
The latest endorsement places the Nagaland guitarist among a growing list of Indian musicians receiving recognition from leading international music equipment brands.
