Tripura BJP in damage control mode over ex-CM's 'outsider' claims

Agartala: BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda has reconstituted the core committee of the party’s Tripura unit ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. A party memo undersigned by the National General Secretary revealed the new names inducted in the state unit’s top decision-making body.

“National President Hon’ble Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda Ji has consented to the State Core Committee of Tripura BJP, list in enclosed,” the party memo addressing BJP Tripura Pradesh President Rajib Bhattacharjee reads.

Leaders like President Rajib Bhattacharjee, CM Dr Manik Saha, former CM Biplab Kumar Deb, ex-Deputy CM Jishnu Dev Varma, Union Minister Pratima Bhoumik, MP Rebati Tripura retained their posts in the BJP top body.

Newly appointed General Secretaries of the BJP Tripura Unit Bhagaban Das and Bipin Debbarma emerged as the new inductees. MLA Kishore Barman, party Vice President Papia Datta, and Minister Tinku Roy have been relieved from their responsibilities.

Tripura BJP General Secretary Amit Rakshit is also a member of the panel.

“This committee is empowered to review the political affairs and take decisions after thorough consultation,” a senior leader who is also a member of the committee told EastMojo.

Among others, senior Ministers like Ratan Lal Nath and Pranajit Singha Roy were also accommodated in the committee. GS Ravindra Raju, who coordinates the party affairs as a centrally deputed leader was inducted into the party.

North East Coordinator Sambit Patra, Joint Coordinator for North East Rituraj Sinha, and central observer Dr Mahesh Sharma are designated as invitee members.
