Gangtok: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Golay has announced the regularisation of all temporary government employees who complete four years of service by December 31, 2023. The announcement was made during the 12th foundation day celebration of his Sikkim Krantikari Morcha party on February 4.
Golay invited group C and D employees to receive their regularisation orders on February 9 at Rangpo ground, Pakyong District.
Previously, the SKM government had extended the regularisation criteria for government employees from 5 to 8 years in 2019, but this decision has now been reversed. Golay emphasised that all employees with over 4 years of service, irrespective of their government department, will receive regularisation orders. He mentioned the recent regularization of 1,078 employees who had completed 8 years of service. During his address, Golay also announced that Sikkim would revert to the old pension scheme for government employees, a decision approved by the cabinet. However, employees have the option to choose the new pension scheme if they prefer.
Additionally, the Chief Minister revealed the approval of the Mukhyamanyri Sanjivani Yojana in the same cabinet meeting, ensuring every family is part of a government-beneficial scheme.
Referring to a recent government order regarding the salary hike for panchayats starting February 2024, Golay also announced the provision of vehicles for panchayats. He called for support from independently elected panchayats for “Mission 2024” to win general elections in all 32 assembly constituencies and one Lok Sabha constituency.
Golay promised a people-centric government, stating that Sikkim’s previous lack was now addressed. He mentioned the slogan “Sunawlo Sikkim and Samridh Sikkim,” emphasising the fulfilment of promises.
Addressing the opposition, Golay claimed they suffer from “Golayphobia,” attributing it to the people’s trust in him. He compared himself to Arjun and the people of Sikkim as his Sarathi, akin to Krishna in the Mahabharata.

He concluded by expressing the desire for righteousness in politics rather than political power devoid of morality.
