Gangtok: A day after Bharatiya Janata Party declared ‘no pre-poll alliance’ with Sikkim Krantikari Morcha, Sikkim BJP announced ‘no post-poll alliance with corrupt SKM party‘.
Addressing the media at the BJP city office in Gangtok, BJP spokesperson Pasang Sherpa stated, “For the past 3 years, BJP has tried to distance itself from the corruption trap of SKM party. It was an undignified alliance from which the BJP tried to break free on many occasions. The same has finally come to fruition yesterday after a thorough discussion with the central leadership”.
Targeting the SKM party and its governance, the BJP stated, “SKM party has resorted to violence against opposition parties, they have been misusing the state’s financial resources. The issues such as MCX, selling of government shares from the Teesta Urja dam, to the corruption scandal involving former chief secretary, to even corruption involving ration distribution during COVID-19”.
On being asked about SKM’s claim of a post-poll alliance, Sherpa stated, “The statement given by SKM spokesperson, where he claimed the post-poll alliance is the SKM’s desperate attempt to save itself. They now fear that their corruption will be exposed. But we assure you there is no post-poll alliance happening”.
BJP will be declaring their candidates tomorrow. Over rumors of 4 candidates, the BJP neither accepted nor denied the names of candidates.
