Gangtok: Sikkim reported 170 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, pushing the caseload to 21,965, a health department bulletin said on Friday.

East Sikkim registered 70 new cases followed by West Sikkim (53), South Sikkim (43), and North Sikkim (4).

The Himalayan state now has 2,177 active cases, while 257 COVID-19 patients have migrated to other states, and 19,219 persons have recovered from the disease.

The COVID-19 death toll remained unchanged at 312 as no fresh fatality was reported in the last 24 hours, it said.

The state has thus far tested 1,71,723 samples for COVID-19, including 987 in the last 24 hours.

Sikkim’s COVID-19 positivity rate now is 17.2 per cent, while the recovery rate has increased to 87.4 per cent.
