Itanagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday hailed the Northeast as the “strong link of tourism, business, and cultural relations” with South and Southeast Asia during his address at Viksit Bharat Viksit North East Program in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh.
In his address, PM Modi highlighted the various development projects in the region, including rail, road, health, housing, education, border infrastructure, IT, power, oil & gas, and other sectors. He said that the allocation of funds for these projects in the last five years is fourfold more than earlier.
“Entire Northeast can witness the meaning of Modi Ji guarantee with the development works being done here”, the Prime Minister said, adding, “What the time, month, or year may be, Modi only works for the welfare of the nation and its people.”
He said that the government is committed to the development of the Northeast and will bring in a new style of development which will focus on startups, new technologies, homestays, and tourism-related opportunities for the youth of the region.
The Prime Minister also informed about various steps being taken by the government to improve the connectivity of the region and make it easier for people to travel.
He said that the work on the several tunnels is going on, which will provide all-weather connectivity to the people of Tawang. He also informed about the construction of 6,000 kilometres of roads in the last ten years and the laying of 2000 kilometres of rail lines.

PM Modi said that he aims to make three crore Lakhpati Didis in the country and help the women from the Northeast in this. He also said that the foundation stones for the Anganwadi centres of Arunachal Pradesh for the most vulnerable and backward tribes were laid on Saturday.
The Prime Minister’s address was attended by the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, (Retd) Lieutenant General Kaiwalya Trivikram Parnaik and Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu among others.
