Guwahati: Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has undertaken significant measures to identify and dispose of various types of scrap as part of its ambitious “Zero Scrap Mission.”
The endeavor is aimed to ensure that every division, workshop, and shed under its jurisdiction remains free from scrap materials.

As part of the ongoing drive under the ‘Zero Scrap Mission,’ N. F. Railway has successfully sold 12,542 metric tons of scrap rails and P-Way materials, along with 8,268 metric tons of miscellaneous scrap items during the current financial year, up to December 31, 2023. Additionally, the railway has also managed to sell 12 diesel locomotives, 157 coaches, and 122 wagons during this period.
By December 31, 2023, Northeast Frontier Railway has achieved a commendable feat by selling scrap rails, P-Way materials, condemned coaches, wagons, and locomotives worth Rs. 103.55 crores. This figure marks a 3.19% increase compared to the previous year’s sales value of Rs. 100.35 crore.
