Northeast states told to use unspent Animal Husbandry funds

In a review meeting on animal husbandry and dairy, the Northeast states have been asked to dispose of unspent balances under the schemes they are implementing.

This was stated by the Secretary of the Animal Husbandry and Dairy (AHD) department, Alka Upadhyaya, who also directed the states to prepare and submit their annual action plans and demands for the financial year 2024-25.

The review meeting, which was held in New Delhi on Wednesday, included the participation of additional secretaries, joint secretaries, chief controller of accounts, and other senior officers of the department.

It also discussed the implementation of the Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM), the Entrepreneurship Development under the National Livestock Mission (NLM), the National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP), the Dairy Processing and Infrastructure Development Fund (DIDF), and the National Programme for Dairy Development (NPDD) of the Central government.

The Secretary emphasised the importance of utilising and disposing of unspent balances in the Northeast states.
