The Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Nagaland Football Association (NFA) and under the aegis of Operation Sadbhavana, organised the unveiling ceremony of the official poster, mascot, and theme song of the 9th Capt N Kengurüse, MVC Memorial Football Tournament 2025 at Kohima Science College, Jotsoma, on October 6.
The event was attended by Abu Metha, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Chairman of the Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland, Vice President of the Athletics Federation of India, and Secretary General of the Nagaland Olympics Association, along with Dr Tseilhoutou Rhutso, Member of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
The highlight of the ceremony was the unveiling of the official mascot, The Mithun Warrior, representing strength, unity, and resilience. The official poster was also released, giving audiences a preview of the upcoming tournament. The event included the launch of the tournament’s theme song, composed by The Chaturth Pancham Jazz Band of 45 Assam Rifles, which captures the spirit of pride, passion, and perseverance.
The parents of Capt N Kengurüse, MVC, along with dignitaries from the NFA, event partners, and cultural figures of Nagaland, were felicitated for their contributions.
Brigadier S.K. Palande, Deputy Inspector General, IGAR (North), addressed the gathering and reiterated the Assam Rifles’ commitment to promoting youth development, sportsmanship, and community bonding through sports initiatives.
The 9th Capt N Kengurüse, MVC Memorial Football Tournament will take place from October 22 to November 6 at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima, featuring 20 teams from across Nagaland.
