NFR GM reviews railway infrastructure and staff facilities in Assam

Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), carried out a detailed inspection of five stations in Assam’s Rangiya Division on 15 July. The visit included stops at Baihata, Changsari, Kendukona, Agthori, and Rangiya, focusing on operational safety, signalling systems, and the status of various infrastructure projects.

At Rangiya station, Shrivastava assessed the ongoing expansion of the Rangiya Railway Hospital, which aims to improve medical facilities for both railway staff and nearby residents. He also reviewed progress at the Divisional Training Centre (MDDTI), which is being upgraded to improve training for Signal and Telecommunication (S&T) personnel, with new classrooms and workshop areas being developed.

According to a press statement from NFR, the inspection included a review of the new Gati-Shakti Cargo Terminal at Baihata, which is nearing commissioning. The terminal will include three goods lines, an electronic in-motion weighbridge, double-length platforms, high-mast lighting for round-the-clock operations, and a ramp for vehicle loading. It is expected to manage more than 25 freight rakes each month.

Shrivastava also examined the status of station improvement works and visited surrounding railway colonies, stressing the importance of proper housing and facilities for staff.
