The National Medical Commission (NMC) has released the tentative schedule for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Postgraduate (NEET-PG) 2025. According to the announcement, the postgraduate medical entrance examination is expected to take place on 15 June 2025. In addition, the internship completion deadline for eligibility to appear in the exam has been set for 31 July 2025.
In its notification, the NMC explained that the schedule was decided after the Post Graduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB), under the NMC, consulted with the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). The decision was based on information provided by universities, which indicated these dates would align with academic schedules and allow sufficient preparation time for students.
NEET-PG serves as a critical gateway for medical graduates seeking admission to postgraduate courses such as MD, MS, PG Diplomas, Post-MBBS DNB courses, six-year DrNB programmes, and NBEMS Diploma courses. The exam provides a single-window platform for these admissions, underscoring its significance for aspiring medical specialists.
The NBEMS recently released its academic calendar for 2025, although it did not initially include information about NEET-PG or NEET-UG. However, it provided a schedule for other significant exams. The NEET-PG 2025 date announcement comes as a relief to candidates, offering clarity and enabling them to plan their preparations well in advance.

Among other notable dates in the NBEMS calendar, the NEET-MDS is scheduled for 31 January 2025, and the Fellowship Entrance Test is set for 16 February 2025. The NEET-SS 2024 exam, which had been postponed to 2025, will be held on 29 and 30 March 2025. These exams cater to a variety of postgraduate and super-speciality medical courses, reflecting the breadth of opportunities available to medical graduates.
