Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), engaged in an interactive session on Saturday with various field officials responsible for the safe operation of trains at New Jalpaiguri under the Katihar Division. Accompanied by Surendra Kumar, Divisional Railway Manager of Katihar, along with senior officials from both the headquarters and the division, the General Manager emphasised the importance of vigilance and safety in railway operations.
During his address, Shrivastava urged all railway personnel to maintain the highest standards of safety, stressing that it must be ensured at any cost. The interactive session saw active participation from field supervisors, including Loco Inspectors and Traffic Inspectors, who shared their suggestions and insights on improving safety and efficiency in train operations.
As part of his visit, the General Manager also inspected the recently upgraded Running Room at New Jalpaiguri railway station. This facility, which serves as a rest and recreation area for train operating staff such as drivers and guards, functions as a home away from home for loco pilots, assistant loco pilots, and other train running personnel. Shrivastava assessed the infrastructure and amenities available, ensuring that they meet the needs of the staff who often work long hours to guarantee the safe and timely transportation of passengers and essential goods.
