Mizoram: Railways expand refrigerated parcel services to support horticulture

To accommodate the increased passenger demand, the Northeast Frontier (N.F.) Railway has announced the extension of services for three pairs of special trains starting from the first week of July 2024. Additionally, the frequency of two express trains will be increased, with the Vivek Express now operating on a daily basis.

Extension of Special Train Services

  • Train No. 05636/05635 (Guwahati – Shri Ganganagar – Guwahati): This train will now run for 13 additional trips in both directions. The Guwahati to Shri Ganganagar service will operate every Wednesday from 3rd July to 25th September 2024. The return service from Shri Ganganagar to Guwahati will run every Sunday from 7th July to 29th September 2024.
  • Train No. 05932/05931 (Dibrugarh – Kolkata – Dibrugarh): This service will be extended for 26 additional trips in both directions. The Dibrugarh to Kolkata train will run every Saturday from 6th July to 28th December 2024, and the return service from Kolkata to Dibrugarh will operate every Sunday from 7th July to 29th December 2024.
  • Train No. 05639/05640 (Silchar – Kolkata – Silchar): This train will also be extended for 26 additional trips in both directions. The Silchar to Kolkata service will operate every Thursday from 4th July to 26th December 2024, and the return journey from Kolkata to Silchar will run every Friday from 5th July to 27th December 2024.

Increase in Frequency of Express Trains

  • Train No. 22504/22503 (Dibrugarh – Kanniyakumari – Dibrugarh) Vivek Express: Previously operating five days a week, this train will now run daily starting from 8th July 2024 from Dibrugarh and 12th July 2024 from Kanniyakumari.
  • Train No. 15612/15611 (Silchar – Rangiya – Silchar) Express: The frequency of this service will increase from three days a week to six days a week. The Silchar to Rangiya train will commence its new schedule on 8th July 2024, and the return service from Rangiya to Silchar will begin on 9th July 2024. The trains will operate with a revised composition of 22 coaches for passenger convenience.

Passengers are advised to check the updated stoppages and timings on the IRCTC website, NTES, and the social media handles of N.F. Railway. It is recommended to verify the details before planning their journey.
