To bring more attention to the importance of innovative methods in legal teaching and to create a platform for legal educators to explore their skills, a national workshop on ‘Pedagogy in Law’ was organised by the Department of Law of Tezpur University (TU) in collaboration with the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC) of NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad.
The workshop, which was held on May 13, 2024, brought together legal scholars and educators from across the country to discuss and deliberate on the use of innovative methods in law teaching. The speakers at the workshop included Prof Srikrishna Deva Rao, Vice Chancellor of NALSAR University of Law, Prof Shambhu Nath Singh, Vice Chancellor of TU, and Prof Farheena Danta, Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences, TU.
Prof Rao highlighted the importance of exploring innovative methods of legal teaching that can help students engage in dynamic and interactive learning experiences. He emphasised that by adopting innovation in legal teaching, educators can inspire a new generation of legal professionals. In his lecture, Prof Singh emphasised the use of technology in integrating interdisciplinary perspectives into legal education.
Prof Danta said that the workshop aims to improve teaching techniques, adapt to evolving educational trends, and ultimately enhance the quality of instruction. The Dean emphasised the importance of the workshop for students pursuing their LL.M. and aspiring to become educators themselves.

Other notable speakers at the workshop included Prof Debasis Poddar of National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam, who presented a paper on interdisciplinary perspectives in legal pedagogy, and Prof Anu Mehra of the Faculty of Law at Delhi University, who discussed the topic of understanding and feedback in student assessment.
The workshop was a platform for the participants to come together and explore their skills in innovative methods of legal teaching. The presentations and discussions at the workshop helped bring attention to the importance of these methods in today’s legal education system.
