The voice that brought the flavors of disco into Bollywood is now rested forever Veteran singer Bappi Lahiri took his last breath on Tuesday at Mumbai’s CritiCare Hospital.
The singer not only gave Bollywood some of its best disco hits but also popular chartbusters in his mellifluous voice.
He was also known for his obsession with gold jewelry. Right from gold bracelets to rings and heavy chains, Lahiri was always decked in gold.
While speaking about his undying love for gold ornaments, he said he was fascinated with the way Elvis Presley has his own identity and he too decided to have his own.
The ‘Disco King of Bollywood’ last worked on “Ganpati Bappa Morya” in September 2021. Bappi da gave the music to the devotional song, voiced by the US-based Indian singer Anuradha Juju Palakurthi.
