Argentina football legend Diego Maradona successfully underwent a brain surgery for a subdural hematoma on Tuesday after he was admitted to a hospital on Monday.
Maradona’s neurosurgeon and personal physician, Leopoldo Luque said that he was successfully able to removed the hematoma.
“Diego is under control. He has a small drain [to remove fluid] that we are planning to take out tomorrow. His stay at the hospital will depend on his evolution. But the start of his recovery was great. The way he reacted after the surgery is promising,”, Luque said.

Maradona ,60, fell in his bathroom two weeks ago following which he was hospitalised in the Ipensa Clinic in La Plata, Argentina, on Monday and was diagnosed with anemia, dehydration and depression.
According to reports, an MRI on Tuesday morning stated that the Argentine legend had subdural hematoma.
Maradona reportedly did not want to undergo a surgery but was convinced by his family and Dr Luque that surgery was the best option.
Maradona battled a number of health issues in his past 20 years of career. In 2004 he was hospitalised due to severe heart and respiratory problems related to drug addiction. He was seen passing out during a game between Nigeria and Argentina at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, and then in January 2020, he was admitted in the hospital due to internal bleeding in the stomach.
