Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, is set to inaugurate the Official Language Diamond Jubilee Celebrations and address the inaugural session of the 4th Akhil Bharatiya Rajbhasha Sammelan on Saturday, 14th September, in New Delhi. Organised by the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs, the two-day event will commemorate the completion of 75 years since Hindi became the official language of India.
The Rajbhasha Sammelan, which has been organised annually since 2021 under the leadership of Amit Shah and inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will take place at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi from 14th to 15th September 2024. This year marks a special occasion as the event coincides with the Diamond Jubilee of the Official Language.
As part of the celebrations, the Home Minister will launch a special Diamond Jubilee edition of the Rajbhasha Bharti magazine, as well as release a commemorative postage stamp and coin to mark the milestone. He will also present the Rajbhasha Gaurav and Rajbhasha Kirti awards, alongside the release of several other books and publications.
One of the key highlights of the event will be the launch of the Bharatiya Bhasha Anubhag, an initiative aimed at promoting the use of Indian languages alongside Hindi and fostering better coordination among them. This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Modi’s emphasis on the development of Hindi and Indian languages to strengthen cultural unity across the country.
Since 2019, Hindi Diwas and the Akhil Bharatiya Rajbhasha Sammelan have been celebrated in various cities across India, including Varanasi, Surat, and Pune. This year’s event in the national capital is particularly significant as it celebrates the 75-year journey of Hindi as an official language, highlighting its progress in technology and administration.
The conference will feature six sessions over two days, exploring a range of topics related to Hindi’s role as an official language, public language, and contact language. The first session on September 14 will focus on the Official Language Diamond Jubilee and the evolution of Hindi over the past 75 years. Other sessions will delve into India’s cultural heritage, the role of the Devanagari script in language teaching, and the contribution of the Town Official Language Committee in implementing Hindi in the technological era.

On 15th September, a session titled Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita 2023, Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita 2023, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam 2023: A Discussion will be addressed by Union Minister of Law and Justice, Arjun Ram Meghwal. The final session will examine the role of Indian cinema as a powerful medium for the development of the Hindi language, with actor Anupam Kher and filmmaker Chandraprakash Dwivedi leading the discussion.
The event will see participation from notable dignitaries, including Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha Harivansh, Union Ministers of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, and Vice-Chairman of the Parliamentary Official Language Committee Bhartruhari Mahtab. Scholars from South India, Prof. M. Govindarajan and Prof. S.R. Sarraju, along with prominent Hindi scholars Prof. Suryaprasad Dixit and Dr. Hariom Panwar, will also attend.
More than 10,000 participants, including Rajbhasha officials, scholars, and senior officials from across India, are expected to attend this two-day event.
