Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has announced the availability of world-class facilities for its running staff, including Loco Pilots and Assistant Loco Pilots, across its network. The initiative is aimed at ensuring the comfort and well-being of these key personnel, who are essential for the smooth and safe operation of trains.
NFR has established 42 running rooms equipped with modern amenities. Each running room features spacious double-bed soundproof rooms with attached toilets, meditation rooms for yoga and relaxation, reading rooms, dining halls, and separate kitchens for vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals. Additionally, the facilities include RO-purified drinking water, freshly washed linen, solar hot water systems, laundry and ironing services, and gyms outfitted with modern equipment such as whole body and foot massagers, treadmills, and automatic cycles. These provisions are designed to help Loco Pilots and Assistant Loco Pilots rest and rejuvenate after their shifts, ensuring they are refreshed and alert when they resume their duties.
The running rooms serve as a home away from home for the running staff, who often work late hours and through the night to ensure the safe, timely, and efficient transportation of passengers and essential goods. Proper rest and nutrition are critical for these staff members to maintain high levels of alertness and ensure the continued safety of train operations.
