The seventh Joint Defense Cooperation Committee (JDCC) meeting between India and Indonesia will take place in New Delhi on May 3, 2024. The meeting, co-chaired by Indian Defense Secretary Giridhar Aramane and Indonesian Secretary General of Ministry of Defense Air Marshal (Retd.) Donny Ermawan Taufanto, MDS, aims to enhance defence cooperation between the two nations and explore new avenues for collaboration.
The meeting will focus on exchanging views on regional and global issues of mutual interest, strengthening bilateral relations, and fostering cooperation in various defence-related fields. The India-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, established in 2018, has broadened the scope of bilateral relations, including collaboration in the defence industry, science, and technology.
The defence partnership between India and Indonesia has expanded to include a wide range of activities, such as military-to-military exchanges, high-level visits, capacity-building programs, training, and cooperation in UN peacekeeping missions. The two countries have also conducted joint exercises and ship visits to strengthen their defence ties.

The JDCC, established in 2001, serves as a platform for coordinating and controlling defence cooperation between India and Indonesia. The committee provides a framework for exploring potential areas of cooperation, identifying common interests, and initiating, coordinating, monitoring, and controlling approved cooperative activities.
During his visit to India from May 2-4, 2024, the Indonesian Secretary-General will engage in discussions with Indian defence industries in New Delhi and Pune. These discussions aim to explore opportunities for collaboration and strengthen defence ties between the two countries.
