Kohima: Dimapur Police have busted an alleged interstate cocaine trafficking syndicate with links across three states and an alleged connection to a Nigerian national, arresting five people in a major anti-narcotics operation.
According to the police, the investigation uncovered an organised network that allegedly procured and distributed cocaine through commercial courier and parcel delivery services, including DTDC Courier Services, using a structured chain of suppliers, handlers and delivery agents.
A case has been registered at West Police Station, Dimapur, under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. During the investigation, police seized around 33 grams of suspected cocaine, which has been sent for forensic examination.
The arrested accused have been identified as Tohuka Sema alias Toka (35), son of late Z. Vikheshe Assumi, who is alleged to be a major cocaine supplier based in Dimapur; Yeka Awomi (30), son of Ahokhe Awomi, arrested in Pune, Maharashtra; Biresh Kumar (22), son of late Dhirender Singh, arrested in Delhi; Akhtar Hussain (35), son of Ismail Ansari, arrested in Delhi; and Swantheiba Inkah (25), son of Baga, who allegedly acted as a delivery agent facilitating the movement and delivery of cocaine.
Police said two other accused, currently believed to be outside Nagaland, are absconding, and efforts are underway to apprehend them.
Preliminary investigations suggest the syndicate operated in a highly organised manner, with clearly defined roles involving procurement, payment layering, interstate transportation, courier-based delivery and distribution of cocaine through commercial logistics channels.

The investigation has also revealed alleged interstate and international linkages, including the suspected involvement of a Nigerian national. Police said further investigations are underway to identify additional associates, trace financial transactions, identify customers and uncover the full extent of the network.
Dimapur Police reiterated its commitment to dismantling organised drug trafficking syndicates and bringing all those involved in the illicit narcotics trade to justice under the NDPS Act. The police also appealed to the public to share any credible information related to narcotics trafficking, assuring that all information would be treated with strict confidentiality.
