Nagaland: One held in alleged sexual assault case in Kisama

Kohima: One person has been arrested by the Kohima Police in connection with an alleged sexual assault case reported in Kisama.

According to police, the incident reportedly took place on May 12, 2026, at around 7:30 pm, when an unidentified individual allegedly entered the residence of two female victims at Kisama.

As per the complaint, the accused allegedly assaulted the victims while they were having dinner and attempted to rape them. One of the victims sustained grievous injuries and was immediately evacuated to Bethel Hospital for medical treatment.

Based on the complaint, police registered a case at the Women Police Station under Sections 62, 74, 76 and 117(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), read with Section 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.

The accused, identified as Seyienei-u (28), a resident of Phesama village, has been arrested and placed in police remand.

Police said the matter is under active investigation and necessary legal action will be taken as per the law.

The police also appealed to the public to cooperate with the investigation and refrain from spreading unverified information.
