Senapati: The Central Reserve Police Force’s (CRPF) CoBRA unit on Tuesday conducted door-to-door searches at Taphou Liangmai and adjoining areas of Senapati district, a day after renewed tension in the area left a CRPF personal injured.
District police personnel accompanied the CoBRA team during the operation, with security personnel carrying out searches of houses and surrounding areas.
Female CRPF personnel reportedly searched rooms inside individual houses, while male personnel inspected the exteriors and adjoining areas.
The searches were conducted without resistance or intervention from residents, and no one had been detained at the time of filing this report.
There was also no official information on whether weapons or other military-related items were recovered during the operation.
The search operation came a day after a 54-year-old CRPF constable of the 36th Battalion sustained a foot injury during Monday’s violence in the area. The injury was suspected to have been caused by a bullet.
No fresh tension was reported in Taphou on Tuesday, although security personnel continued to maintain a heavy presence in the area.
On Monday, several houses belonging to members of both the Kuki and Naga communities were reportedly burnt or damaged in renewed clashes in the Taphou Kuki and Taphou Naga areas.
