Kohima: Deputy Commissioner of Chümoukedima, Polan John, NCS, has issued a public advisory warning against unauthorised activities being carried out in close proximity to National Highway-29, including areas falling within the Right of Way.
According to the DC, the District Administration has received reports of quarrying, earth cutting, construction, and the setting up of temporary fruit and vegetable stalls near the highway. These activities, he stated, pose serious risks to the structural integrity of the highway and endanger public safety.
The DC stated that such activities increase the likelihood of soil erosion, landslides, highway blockades, encroachments, subsidence, and even fatal accidents.
In view of these risks, the administration has urged the public to refrain from engaging in any such activity near NH-29 that could compromise the stability and safety of the highway and its users.
The Deputy Commissioner appealed for full cooperation in preserving the durability of the highway and protecting public safety. He also informed that legal action will be initiated against any individual or group found violating the directive, under relevant laws and regulations.
