Kohima came alive with vibrant colours, music, and energy as the Kohima Village Youth Organisation (KVYO) hosted the spectacular ‘Hornbill Carnival Parade’ coinciding with the ongoing mega Hornbill Festival.
Held on the evening of December 7, the event was held under the theme “Heralding Diversity“. The parade kicked off from Dzüyiekese and culminated at Razhü Point, bringing the festive spirit of the 25th edition of the Hornbill Festival into the heart of the city.
Organised as a tribute to Nagaland’s rich cultural diversity, the parade aimed to honour the co-existence of various communities in the state while offering a glimpse of the grand festivities at Kisama.
Jigme Thinlye Namgyal, Consul General of the Kingdom of Bhutan at the Royal Bhutanese Consulate General in Guwahati, graced the event as the Chief Guest.
The parade featured a dazzling lineup, including contingents representing the 18 Naga tribes, neighbouring states, cosplay artists, pageant winners, band troops, prominent wrestlers, and mascots. Adding to the entertainment were Colored Keys and Lidi Kro-u, who brought cultural and musical vibrancy to the event.
The parade concluded with a lively flash mob performance, which captivated the audience and drew a large crowd.
Renowned Naga musician Menguseü Suokhrie hosted the evening as the anchor, providing insightful introductions to the various contingents and their diverse backgrounds.
