Kohima: Tensions have escalated once again between two villages in Nagaland, resulting from an ongoing land dispute. The conflict, which has caused significant unrest in the area, has prompted local authorities to increase security measures to prevent further violence.
Nagaland’s Minister for Power and Parliamentary Affairs, KG Kenye, on Wednesday has assured the public that the state government is taking all necessary steps to address the ongoing tensions between Lamhainamdi and Kiyevi.
Acknowledging the efforts made by the administration and security forces to contain the violence, Kenye highlighted the challenges involved in maintaining law and order in the region due to a shortage of manpower.
However, he said that the government has directed additional forces to be deployed to the area. The situation, Kenye said, is under control despite the tension.
Kenye emphasised that resolving such conflicts requires judicial intervention, as the government alone cannot manage these cases effectively. He stated that the state government is working closely with the two tribal hohos-Sumi and Zeliang, to mediate and act as a catalyst for peace.
