Dimapur: The Rising People’s Party (RPP) has sharply criticised the ruling People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) government, alleging that the ongoing monsoon season has once again highlighted its shortcomings.
According to the RPP, Dimapur’s roads have become “utterly unpliable,” and there is a looming threat of a dengue epidemic due to severe flooding caused by a poor drainage system.
In a press statement released on Wednesday, the RPP accused the PDA government of focusing disproportionately on two major projects—the Chiethu airport and Nagaki Global City—while neglecting essential infrastructure maintenance across the state.
The party noted that responsibility for urban road maintenance was shifted from the state Public Works Department (PWD) to the Urban Development Department (UDD) several years ago.
According to the RPP, the UDD is now primarily concerned with the Nagaki City project, reportedly valued in the hundreds of crores, while the condition of urban roads deteriorates.
The RPP also criticised the PDA government’s “missionary zeal” for the Chiethu airport project, which is estimated to cost thousands of crores if approved. Despite the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s assessment that the proposed site is not feasible, the government continues to pursue the project. Meanwhile, the existing airport and railway station in Dimapur suffer from rampant encroachment.
The RPP has called on the PDA government to present a White Paper on the encroachments at the Dimapur airport and railway station during the upcoming Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) session scheduled for August 27.

Furthermore, the party alleged that significant investments have already been made in acquiring the proposed site for the Chiethu airport, with similar practices being observed with the Nagaki City site.
The RPP described the situation as indicative of a “criminal syndicate” of politicians who control most state resources, asserting that this level of resource and funding control is only feasible in an “opposition-less government.”
The RPP criticised the rest of the MLAs for being relegated to minor roles while the cabal controls substantial resources. The party condemned the formation of a Political Affairs Committee (PAC) for the Naga solution, claiming that it further consolidates power within the cabal.
