Kohima: In response to the recent violence involving its cadres in Zunheboto, Nagaland, the NSCN (R) established a five-member inquiry committee to conduct free, fair, and impartial investigation.
This comes in the wake of a physical assault on a person identified from Natha Old Village by cadres of the NSCN (R) Wangtin group.
Following this incident, the Sümi Youth Organisation (SYO), Zunheboto Tokujo Kükami (ZTK), Zunheboto Area Public Organisation (ZAPO), and Zunheboto Town GB Association (ATGBA) declared a ban on the functionaries of NSCN (R) Wangtin group in Zunheboto district.
In response, the group convened an emergency meeting on August 3, in Dimapur led by President Y Wangtin Naga and ato-Kilonser P. Tikhak, and chaired by the incumbent Kilo Kilonser Kavishe Zhimomi.
During the meeting, the NSCN (R) leaders strongly condemned all forms of violence, asserting that such acts are against the core principles of the NSCN/GPRN (R). They emphasised the need for healing, unity, and brotherhood within Naga society, stating that the group is committed to taking all necessary measures to prevent such violence in the future.

To address the incident thoroughly, the NSCN (R) directed the committee to submit its findings within 15 days.
The group also urged the Naga people, particularly the residents of Zunheboto, to remain calm and trust in the inquiry process, assuring assured that appropriate disciplinary actions will be taken based on the committee’s findings.
