Kohima: In a bid to ensure a free, fair, and smooth conduct of the upcoming Municipal and Town Council elections in Nagaland, a high-level review and coordination meeting was held at the Chief Secretary’s Conference Hall in Kohima.
The meeting, held on Thursday, was chaired by the Chief Secretary and included the Home Commissioner, the Commissioner & Secretary of the Municipal Affairs Department, the State Nodal Officer for the State Election Commission, and the Police Nodal Officer.
The Chief Secretary emphasised the importance of close coordination between the State Election Commission and the government officers deputed for the election. This, he said, is crucial for ensuring a free, fair, and peaceful election process.
During the meeting, the State Election Commissioner briefed the attendees on the various preparatory steps and measures taken by the Commission to ensure the smooth conduct of the elections.
He assured that all necessary arrangements are on track. The Police Nodal Officer provided an update on the security arrangements being implemented to ensure a peaceful polling process. In addition, the Home Commissioner pledged full support in deploying security personnel as needed.
The State Election Commissioner further informed that all electoral processes are proceeding according to the election schedule.
