Dimapur: In a routine market raid conducted by the Wildlife Crime Control Unit, Wildlife Division, Dimapur, two individuals were apprehended on Tuesday morning at Lengrijan Tuesday Bazar in Dimapur for allegedly possessing Red collared doves.
According to Tokaho Kinimi, Wildlife Warden of the Wildlife Division, Dimapur, Rohila Ronghangpi (42) and Meena Enghipi (50) were found in possession of 35 and 44 Red collared doves respectively.
The accused individuals, hailing from Monsing Teron Village in Dillai, Assam, have been detained by the Wildlife Crime Control Unit and will be dealt with as per the relevant sections of the Wild Life Protection Act, 1972.
The Wildlife Warden issued a stern warning to the public, urging them to refrain from engaging in the buying, selling, or dealing of wild animals, birds, bushmeat, wildlife articles, or trophies.

He emphasised that any content related to hunting or trapping of wild animals and birds shared on social media platforms constitutes a serious offense under the Wild Life Protection Act, 1972.
The Wildlife Warden reiterated that a dedicated team of the Wildlife Crime Control Unit remains vigilant round the clock, and defaulters will face strict legal action.
