Kohima: The Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) has reaffirmed its stand to boycott the upcoming 18th Lok Sabha election in the state in protest against the delay in addressing its demand for Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT).
The apex body of the Eastern Nagas said that according to commitments made by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the FNT arrangement was expected to be settled before the implementation of the election Model Code of Conduct (MCC).
The ENPO, through a statement, said that it learnt that the ministry had handed over a drat MoS to the state government in December last year.
Accordingly, the state government was supposed to present its comments by December 31. However, ENPO said that the state government is yet to give its comments on the draft to the MHA and so the FNT could not be materialised before the Lok Sabha 2024 Election Model Code of Conduct announcement, as committedby the MHA.

In response to this delay, the Eastern Nagaland public convened a resolution on February 23, 2024, at Chenmoho village, resolving not to participate in any Central or State elections. This resolution was further reaffirmed on March 19, 2024, at Tuensang Headquarters, and most recently on April 11, 2024, during a public meeting held at Tuensang Headquarters.
The resolution, known as the Chenmoho Resolution, was reaffirmed on Thursday with a firm commitment to honor and uphold it with utmost sincerity.
